Homecoming - Fourth Quarter

Seth and Car bring her father to the bus ...
but Luke isn't there to meet them.

The game continues, the next object is ... a bowling ball?

Seth and Car return to the building, and luckily Car detects Krag waiting for them right around a corner.

Luke punches out of a box, into a dark room (a closet), finds the door, and the glowing eyes outside it waiting for him.

IN the game, EHS gets the bowling ball from SH, and scores it. Score 6-5.

The last object is a large .... thingy. EHS nearly scores, it, but they too lose control ... SH considers destroying it, but then one of them picks it up. It's damaged, but not broken.

Meanwhile, Luke is fighting the eyes.. tries a legsweep, only it doesn't have legs...

Krag goes down in the hall, and they hear Luke shout, "It's a ...it's a giant SNAKE!"

They manage to drive it off him, and escape to the bus. Flying directly back to the stadium, they jump or port down to the game. Car lands on the field, but immediately leaps into the stands.

She's chasing the Lizard at the game ... tries to slip away, but Luke sees who she is chasing, and ports in front of him and uppercuts him.

Finally, Rajive asks Mr Medulla why he has been laughing since the gadget appeared. He laughs again, and says, 'are you sure you want to know right now?', Rajive nods, Medulla presses the button on the gadget. and the credits start rolling.

Homecoming - Halftime

Homecoming halftime

Traced kidnapping to EHS stadium

Very short game, one hour.

Halftime recap - Luke, Seth and Car find their way to the EHS stadium. There they find Krag, a scientist, and some glowing eyes. (what did they do?)

Car's father is tied up in the middle of the field. The lights are dark except on center field. Car suggests they destroy the control box for the webber grill sized automatons, but Krag somehow gets warned and jumps in the way of Seth's blue beam.
The automatons open up, spewing legs and arms and starting to move.

Meanwhile, the second half is starting in Sky high stadium. And the first object is ... a baby! Blue Bear starts to go for it, and so does one of the automatons!!

The automatons are driven by movement on the main field. the heros' in EHS are wildcards.

What are the glowing eyes? ( a Teleporter with good perception )
Who is behind this?
Do they merely want to mess with Magnolia? or Sky High?
or are they just trying the make a buck? ( Probably )

Claw

Max, aka Junior, aka Claw.

Son of a hero and a backup singer ... sidekick.

Max looks
Max really wants to get along, but he has a temper, and expects to be treated with the respect due to the son of a hero. Meanwhile, he also likes mixing it up. He considers himself a tough guy, but unfortunately he's lived a pretty pampered life.

His powers are natural, retractable claws, tough, regen. His tough but short fur protects him, but does make him stand out from the crowd. He wears loose baggy clothing, and likes to think of himself as a little 'gansta'

Parents: Divorced, Claw and ?

Rivalry with PC's

Freshman

Graviton

Mature and self aware ... OK a little too self aware. She's a little stuck up. Granted, she's one of the prettiest girls from her school. AND she has a real power. And she's from one of the riches families in town. AND she is from a very powerful family. So, she has every reason to be proud, and make sure her hair is just right.

She has the power to control gravity. She can cause people to feel very heavy, trapping them to the ground, or very light, floating in the air, or even pull them off balance. She's really not ready to mix it up, might muss her hair.

Gravity powers, at range. More like 'affect reality' than TK. Could be STR drain for high gravity.
Recent new use to suspend a foe in the air, like an entangle.

Superball

GENERAL Sport played by supers. Objects must be controlled and moved into goals to score points. Alternately, some objects can be destroyed for less points. Full use of powers is allowed. Minor wounds even unconsciousness is common.

FIELD
Any size field can be used.
Goals are sized appropriate to the field, typically around 30' x 20'
Goals are solid backed with several layers of hard and soft materials to reduce damage to both the goal and players
Walls are high and reinforced
Stands are common.

See Sky High Field and the Crows Nest (pending)

PLAYERS
5 players to a side
One a goal tender (no specific rules stated for this role yet)
Substitutions are allowed between 'balls'
Players are given the best of care and almost always recover between the halves.

OBJECTS (aka 'balls')
Objects vary wildly, and no repeats are allowed in a game.
Pick up games will use whatever is available, and will reuse as desired. Hard objects are used often, since they need to be replaced less often.

3 points awarded if the object in play passes into the opposing goal.
1 point is awarded if the object in play is destroyed by the opposing team.

The object is delivered alternately to each team.

A game is defined by the list of objects, with a halftime when half the objects are scored (by entering the goal, or being destroyed)

Example Objects include (but not limited to)
  • egg
  • balloon
  • brick
  • large unwieldy contraption
  • mannequin (representing a citizen)
  • car
  • book
Each team nominates a number of items. The referee's pick a subset of those items, and the order.

Referees (almost always supers)
1- Judge when the object is scored;
2- Disqualify players when lethal force is used (by their judgement)
3- Select and order the objects
4- Other duties as needed

High School matches are organized between schools. A long rivalry exists between Sky High and Empire High.

Sky High PC's

All Freshmen at Skyhigh. One year behind those from the movie.

David played by Ian
Luke played by Sean
Rajive played by Ryan
Roy played by Aidan
Seth played by Ben
Hank played by Stephen
Eileen (sometimes played by Lee)
Katherine (sometimes played by Ilsa)
Maxine (?)

Seth Walker

Seth is the son of a heroine, and a geologist. Mom was the Amazing Blue Beam, dad dug in the mud. Sadly, Mom died in a huge blast one day on the dig. Seth got his powers and an enemy all at once, as he and one of the researchers each caught part of the explosion. An ancient relic, in the form of a star sapphire exploded

Seth got some shards of that amazing crystal embedded in his hand. The researcher wasn't so lucky, he got it in the face. Seth somehow protected himself and his father from the rest of the blast with a large shield that formed out of his hand. Since then, he's found a way to also make a crude club, sort of like a baseball bat out of the same energy. It's simple, but powerful.

Power: Various blasts

Parents: Father is alive, Mother disappears after the accident in which he gained his powers.

Hunted: Dr Ray, Sinestro type teacher at EHS
Note: Father may be the original Blue Flashlight

Future Hero name (currently) Shard

Roy

Roy is fun and silly child who likes to play with fire. It's hard to keep him from playing with fire, since he spontaneously starts them.

Roys parents are sweet and kind and ... nervous. His home is singed everywhere, marked inside and out with scorch marks. The family joke is that the fire department is planning to build a new station right next door. The truth is ... they are considering it.

Powers: Fire Sword, Flame Bomb, Flame Rush

Talent: ?

Vulnerable to Water
Colorblind
Hunted: Fire Dept.

Parents: Nice but have nervous ticks about fire. Father MAY be a villain.

Home: Smoldering building next to a firestation. They didn't move, the Fire Dept built one in the newly vacant (burned down) lot next to their home.

Rajive

Rajive is a little out of place in the US. He was born in Egypt, but his family moved when he was very young to Canada. The family story is that a part of the homeland broke free and floated across the ocean. He believed that story when he was younger, now he's not so sure. Either way, his family recently moved again, and now he has a new school to attend.

Recently his father took him outside on a moonlit night, and showed him his true powers. To summon creatures of the ancient world to do his bidding. True, he can only summon a few of the effects his father showed him, but he's learning. There is so much to learn.

Powers: Anubis Blasts, RA blast (flash) both Egyptian motif, High Prinest of Egyptian gods.

Talent: Speaks Arabic (Egyptian)

Hunted: Tiny Purple Babalonian Warriors

Parents: Confused Egyptian Canadian's. Immigrated to escape persecution of TPM's

Origin: gained powers by worshipping at an a altar (possibly at his home)

David

David is the handsome son of two exceptional scientists. Very bright, but not very nice people. They were so invested in their careers that they offered up their own son for experimentation when the job called for a secret test. They regretted it immediately, but it was too late. And David was no longer just their adorable blond child.

David is

Power: Desol, blasts, flight
model - Danny Phantom

Name: David Fenton

Talents: Rich

Year: Freshman

Vulnerable to Intense Light
CVK
Enraged when friends under deadly peril
Hunted: Crey as research subject.

Parents: Disinterested scientists working for Cray Industries. Allowed their son to be experimented on at Cray, now shelter him at least a little.
Father perhaps, Kaspar Fenton (Casper)

Home is large, best neighborhood. Huge fully tricked tree house (multiple rooms, running water, lights, etc)

Krag

Adoptive Father of Luke.

Strong, fighting skills.

Not really bright.

Small time thief, thug for hire.

Luke

Powers: Teleport, Above Human Strength, Street fighting

Talents: Guitar Player

Year: Freshman

Parents: Adopted, true parents unknown.
Mr. and Mrs. Normal Ali.

Krag (adoptive father) strong thug, used Luke's talents to help in heists. t-port in, unlock the door stuff.
Years of foster care before and after.
Now lives in David's tree house, under questionable legal status.

Metal Carnation (Car)

Daughter of Steel Magnolia

Metal body parts, presents as a cyborg.
One obviously metal arm
Both metal legs
Some enhanced senses and skills.

Great Superball player.

Father kidnapped as leverage to get her to shave points in the Homecoming game.

Empire High School - EHS

Empire High School - aka EHS, aka Evil High!

Mascot - a Crow
There is a large statue of a Crow at the pinnacle of the building. The PC's did some minor vandalism by painting the crow pink. They only got a little paint on it before they were interrupted.

This is the other super normal high school in the city. On the surface it's a tall office building structure downtown, Empire City Center. Underneath is where the interesting things occur.

They have a Superball stadium. It's well below ground. It doesn't hold as many people as that at Sky High, but it will hold several thousand.

-- during they PC's Freshman summer break, there was an explosion and the building was destroyed.

Students include:
  • Bastion
  • Steel Carnation
  • Laser Lad
  • Spoilsport
  • Bear Boy
  • Egg man
  • Sythe / stick man (marts w stick)
  • Movement Lady, fly and run with flash defense

Sky High Game Structure

The game is set the year after the movie. So Stronghold and his friends are Sophomores at least.

Each game is structured after a school day, starting with the pickup by the bus, and ... Ron Wilson, bus driver. (His radiation accident hasn't happened yet.)

If there are new characters, there will be a power placement event first thing in the day.

The day looks like this:
  • Wakeup
  • Bus trip (with perception and ego checks for the newbies to scream when they go off the ramp)
  • Welcome and power placement (if necessary)
  • A class - usually Mr Medula
  • Lunch - chance for bulk and Skull ... I mean Stretch(?) and Speed(?) to cause some trouble.
  • another class
  • Gym (end of day)
  • Bus home
  • Evening events (often a dance)
At some point the villains from the first movie will be expelled (they were merely suspended for the first year) Then they will start attending Empire High School. EHS.

First!

Welcome. Dunno if anyone but me will ever read this, but welcome anyway.

The goal of this blog is to capture thoughts about and document for later reference, the events of various games I run. Mostly these will be games for the boys, but will probably include games for others especially prep for conventions.

We'll see.

Things I need to learn.
  1. How to hide stuff. At some point the boys might find or be referenced to this. I'll want some way to keep them from tripping over spoilers. Yeah, they'll still be able to see them, but games are about trust. -- found some help on this. more complex than I can handle tonight, I'll come back to it.
  2. How to link to stuff. There will probably be places on the web that I'll want to note or reference for other games. For example, I think I'll be tracking XP in a google doc spreadsheet. -- added some links to the page, XP and Hero Games. Still need to learn to add links IN a post. Mostly done.
  3. How to tag. If I end up using this much, there will be treads for Sky High, the Champions game for Adult heroes, GENCON, etc. I suspect that tags are the way to separate them. -- they are called labels. DONE
  4. How to allow comments. In the ideal world this would be a forum for my favorite co-writers to comment on games, and feed me idea's. -- played with it, we'll see.
That'll do for now.
