Back to the Future - end of Freshman Year

The story goes like this...
It's the end of the school year
They have just a few classes and finals left
Game start was a gym class where they play, instead of 'save-the-citizen'
they play bank robbers and heroes
Quick bank map, and have at each other
As luck would have it, the Desol and T-porter/street thug were both on the first 'bank-robbers' scene, So I asked them for their first actions ....
Then had Coach Boomer blowing his whistle, "OK that's round one, now you two teams switch sides ..."

I was afraid those two problem powers would be on opposite sides, but it worked out

So then, they had just two finals to prepare for
First, a paper due in history about their favorite hero from WWII.
which they could answer using any comic book hero they knew off, which the understanding that the character would be writing about some close analog from the game world
And Second, they needed to be able to study up for one question of their Mad Science Final
which was:
"name 5 of the 12 dimensions relevant to Teleportation" :-)
Naturally they can't answer it correctly, and since it's a practical final
Mr Medulla t-ports them off somewhere, saying that if they aren't back by the end of class they fail.
:-)
They land in their own city in June 1942, and end up saving the cities hero group, which had been captured by the 'Crimson Cranium." Who they find giving a maniacal speech in German
while in a hidden base under the still-under-construction, Empire City Center.
In the PC's time that auditorium is converted into a Superball stadium, because that base becomes the secret home of the Evil High School, Empire High.

The PC's rescued a bunch of heroes (interestingly enough mostly those they'd just written research papers about, hmmm?) And as they exited, one of them noticed a stock pile of TNT in a store room.

They are returned to their classroom just in time to pass the test, by Tommy Tomorrow (from Red Panda) whose t-travel gadget has 15 dials! (not just the 12 Mr Medulla expected) :-)

School - basics

The school is just a few blocks away from the street.
Roughly in the form of a cross.

The center is used for the youngest students and academic classes in general. All students are given instruction on the basics of reading, writing and maths, with some use of history and the science of the time as materials.

Each of the four wings are dedicated to learning of the four forms of power. Mystical, Physical, Spiritual, and Martial.

As each child grows, they are given opportunities to train in each, but in the end they must chose one to be their focus.

Once chosen, they spend more of their time in dedicated study in that wing.

This choice is made starting in the 13th year, and no later than the 15th. Occasionally the staff will encourage a student to rethink their choices after the first or second year of focused stuff.

In the Past ... first Fantasy Campaign game

For the first evening, we started with just names, races and stats. Each PC is a teenager growing up in the 'adventurers' quarter of a big city (see game setting.)

The opening sequence was a long pan shot picking up each PC along the street. WE started in the bakery, then down toward the coachmaker, then back to the fletcher and blacksmith, and finally to the garden. That's the run up the left side and down the right side of the street as we know it.

When all the boys were together, they decided to go fishing off the pier. Each tried to catch fish in his own way, one pole, one knife on a string, etc.

This fun was interrupted by the arrival of a large sailing ship bearing Johan's Band, returning rich from their adventures.

Chris

Human son of a male fighter. That father is a butcher, they live above the shop. There is a storage space under the shop.

Philosophy

Game will highlight the children of adventurers from one city.

The first game was designed for a quick start, just stats, name and family. So there will be some flexibility on rearranging those stats for the first game as adults.

I want the game to be simple, so limiting them to the 4 core races and classes to start.

Idea is to alternate between events as teenagers, and how that affects them as adult adventurers. So each game should have at least one flashback to their teen years.

Each PC will be assigned a parent with a class. So each will have a hook to play with. Players may flesh out the family if they want to, but that isn't required.

House Rules

All Characters have the same 6 stats (18 16 14 12 10 8), arranged as they choose.
Only 2 PC's may have the same 18 stat.
some flexibility is allowed after 'kid' game to rearrange.

Musts:
Name has a unique first letter.
Look like a core race (Human, elf, dwarf, halfing)
Core class for 1st X levels (Fighter, Cleric, Sorcerer, Rogue)
X has not been defined yet, expect 3-5.

No, Racial stat bonuses.
Yes, Racial other abilities.

Max cash by class at 1st level.

Each Character has the following:
Randomly assigned class of one parent.
One class skill from that parent's class can be taken as a class skill.
A home, typically a shop their parent runs, or lives above.

Setting

In a large seaport city there is a quarter where the adventurers live. When they are there, most of the time the spouses, grandparents and children are alone, waiting for good news or bad and surviving on previous treasure hauls and normal incomes. It's a tight community so all the children run and play together.

Organizations are run by former adventurers, even the church. There is one main training center anchored by a conventional school for younger children.

The Economy has a big boom and bust cycle, living high when a crew brings in a hail, scraping by in the between times.

Flyers Ed Parts 1 and 2

PC's are trying for permission to fly to school.
so they are entered into a new class, Flyer's Education. (flyers ed)

non-flying PC's are taught how to fly various vehicles.

Smoketrail is the teacher - new character, slow moving flight, leaves a trail. Maybe moves fast after a long acceleration time.

Class trip to autoshow.
saw some Empire High kids
got special tour/showing of Grey Ind vehicles. Including a giant robot.
...

End of class test, Fly around city.

they see a disturbance at the convention space. other heroes head there. some pc's head to water front where the convention center is, others notice a boat leaving into the lake.

The empire high kids are fighting the real heros at the convention center, they were somehow tricked by the villains into a battle in the convention center. I think they got caught where they shouldn't have been, and started to fight back.

in the water is the Eel, who takes out ?
in the boat are one armored guy

Villains have giant robot in a boat, which gets to the river. Blob boy in Duck gets taken out by something in the water.
